 Capitol Hill, Washington, DC - and the Stratton Family

A Stratton ancestor was one of the first owners of what today is Capitol Hill. Following is the genealogy record for Dr. Thomas Gerard, as compiled by Tom Stratton.

458. Dr. Thomas Gerard, 1608-1673
He married Susannah Snow. Thomas was born in Ashton In, Makerfield, Lancashire, England Dec 10, 1608. Thomas died Dec 15, 1673 in Machodoc, Westmoreland Cty, Va, at 65 years of age. Probate of Estate was 12-15-1673. Thomas's brother and sister were on "The Ark and The Dove" with Cecil Calvert as first settlers of MD. Thomas arrived shortly thereafter. Was one of the first owners of what is now Capitol Hill, Washington, DC. Thomas was a Catholic and was also a "chiurgeon". Moved to the Nomini River, Westmoreland County, VA, in 1659.
