Little Home Histories, Part 18 -- Knowels and Knowis. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
See previous entry: Little Home Histories, Part 17 -- Anecdotes of Joseph F. Doudna. There seems to be a difference of opinion as to the spelling of the name of one of the ancestors of the Doudna's. Knowels and Knowis being used by the different branches of the Doudna family. The name is given as Knowis in the early birth records of Stillwater Meeting, while Knowels is handed down from the other early history. However, as far as we can learn, Knowels and Knowis apply to the same family. See next entry: Little Home Histories, Part 19 -- 'Kidnapped Doudna' Tradition. For the table of contents and first entry in this series, please see: Little Home Histories, Part 01 -- Table of Contents and Introduction. This entry is adapted from Little Home Histories in Our Early Homes, Belmont County, Ohio, which was published in 1942. Its publication was coordinated by Robert D. and Beulah Patten McDonald.
