The Underground Railroad Museum of Flushing depicts the culture within which slavery was supported, the divergent views that gave rise to the abolitionist movement, and the emergence of the underground railroad in Ohio. Virtually the entire town of Mount Pleasant was involved in the abolitionist movement and the underground railroad. Franklin College also was a "hot bed" of abolitionist sentiment.
